Dec 8, 1937 - Carroll Daily Herald - Funeral services for F.A. Collison, prominent retired farmer, who passed away Monday afternoon will be conducted at 9 o'clock Thursday morning at St. Jospeh's church. Burial will be beside his wife in the parish cemetery and pallbearers will be Dr F.H. Hillemeyer, James O'Herron, Clem Determan, Arthur Pascoe, John Murphy, and George S Wieland. The body is resting at the family home west of Carroll until the time of the services.

Mr Frederick A Collison was born at Leeds, England, Sept 13, 1848, the third son of William and Anne Chappell Collison. When he was only six months old, his parents brought their family to the United States, settling at Chicago, where they lived for several years and moving from there to Ottawa, Illinois.

A short time later they moved to Ranson, Illinois where Mr Collison spent his boyhood. Coming in January 1875 to Carroll where he joined his brother, the late Joseph Collison. Mr Collison made his home with his brother until his marriage, April 15, 1880 to Joan Wolfe at Carroll.

Their home was established at the present old homestead five miles west of Carroll where he lived until hie retired from active farming and made his home in Carroll. Four years ago he returned to his present home 4 miles west of Carroll, where he made his home with his daughters. He died December 6 after an illness of 6 weeks.

Mr Collison is survived by one son and three daughters, and one sister, Mrs Sarah Eads of Grand Ridge, Illinois.

He was a brother of the late Joseph and Frank Collison and Mrs August Staak and Mrs Hugh Morgan.
