Loretta Ocken Dies; Funeral to be Thursday

Loretta Barbara Ocken, 42, of Maple
River, died at 5:20 this morning in the hospital at Cherokee. She succumbed to a six-week illness of typhoid fever.

Miss Ocken had been hospitalized for 26 years.

The body is at the Olerich Funeral home here, where the rosary will be prayed at 8 o’clock this evening and at the same hour tomorrow night. The Rev. Father Peter M. Mattes will lead the prayers tomorrow evening.

Solemn requiem mass will be read at the funeral services at 9:30 Thursday morning at St. Francis church in Maple River. Burial will be in St. John’s cemetery, Arcadia.

Miss Ocken, daughter of John Ocken of Maple River and Frances Ocken, deceased, was born at Arcadia July 30, 1904. Her mother and an infant brother died at the same time in 1913.

Surviving with her father and stepmother are five sisters and four brothers: Mrs. Ben Kramer (Marie) Pocahontas; Mrs. Jacob Loew (Angeline), Breda; Lawrence Ocken, Templeton; Mrs. Knute Nelson (Frances), Carroll; Mrs. Joe Schettler (Annabelle), Breda; Cletus Ocken, Breda; Anton Ocken, Maple River, and Paul and Rosemary [sic] at home.
