In her early childhood her parents moved to Illinois and settled at Abington. Here she grew to young womanhood and on March 27, 1864, she was united in marriage to Frederick J. Beers. Shortly after their marriage they came to Iowa and settled at Carroll and this has been their home for about forty-five years.

Here they raised their family, seven children in all, three of these are still living, Mrs. Ella Leonard, of Boise, Idaho; Mrs. W.J. Colvin, and Mrs. Samuel Harvey, of Omaha. Mrs. Beers was a woman of strong determined character.

In her early life she became a Christian and united with the Methodist Episcopal church in Abington, Illinois, and although she never saw fit to bring her letter here she still affiliated with the Methodist church. She was humble and modest in her manner of life and never cared for display of any kind. She was a good keeper of her home and did her own work until a few days before her death. She was a good wife and a loving mother.

She leaves her three daughters and her aged husband to mourn her loss. The funeral was held at the home on Tuesday at 2:30 Rev. S. Grant Lewis of the Methodist church officiating.
