BARNEY J. KENNEBECK
Final rites were held at 9 a.m. Thursday in St. Mary’s Church at Willey for barney J. Kennebeck, 90, retired farmer, who died Sunday evening at the home of his son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. William Kennebeck, southeast of Carroll. He had been in failing health several years.Requiem mass was offered by the Rev. H. J. Dries, who also gave the sermon. The Rev. W. Richard Graf officiated at graveside rites in Holy Angels Cemetery, Roselle.
Pallbearers, grandsons of Mr. Kennebeck, were Jerome Brincks, LaVerne Gute, Eugene Kennebeck, Alfred Kraus, Lynn Hoffman, and Joseph Kennebeck.
The services were attended by many relatives and friends. From away were Edward Kennebeck, Olin, Ia.; Paul Kennebeck, San Juan, Puerto Rico; Mr. and Mrs. Barney Bremmer, Iona, Minn.; John Hoffman, Mr. and Mrs. Martin Hoffman, Mrs. Rose Kramer, Mrs. Norman Stangl, Tom Hoffman and Gary Einck, Wilmont, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. J. E. McDermott and Frank Kennebeck, Omaha; Mr. and Mrs. Donald Schwarzenbach and son, Gary, Council Bluffs; Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Hoffman, Webb; Mr. and Mrs. Darwin Schulte, Norfolk, Neb.; Jerome Brincks, Fort Dix, N.J.; Mr. and Mrs. Martin Eischeid, Fort Dodge; Mr. and Mrs. Linus Kennebeck and children, Ayrshire, and Alois Eischeid, Algona.
Mr. Kennebeck, a native of Waukegan, Ill., had lived in the Carroll community since 1877, when he came here with his father, George Kennebeck, who settled on a farm south of Carroll.
His wife, who was Julia Meischeid, died Feb. 2, 1949. Since that time Mr. Kennebeck had lived with the William Kennebeck family and his other children.
He is survived by four sons, seven daughters, 54 grandchildren, and 103 great-grandchildren.
Sons and daughters are: Joe, William, and Albert Kennebeck, Carroll; Edward Kennebeck, Olin; Mrs. Fred Masching, Colorado Springs, Colo.; Mrs. Fred Kraus, Mrs. Frank X. Hoffman, Mrs. John Hoffman, Mrs. George Gute, Mrs. Margaret Brincks and Mrs. Leonard Gute, Carroll.
