June 30, 1893 - Carroll Sentinel - Wm. Bannister was in Illinois visiting relatives, and took sick and died. His remains were sent to this place and were today laid to rest by those of his wife who died last March. Mr. Banister was in very poor health at the time of his wife's funeral and was unable to leave the house. He never fully recovered from the shock. Recently he went to visit relatives near Chicago where he has a daughter living and was again taken sick, his system being so low that it was impossible for his physical strength to again rally. Mr. Bannister was one of the first settlers in Carroll township and was nearly 80 years old at the time of his death.
