Aug 31, 1949 - Carroll Daily Times - Committal rites will be held at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon at the Carroll city cemetery for Charles C. Macomber, 75, formerly of Carroll, who died August 8 in New York City. His ashes will be interred in the family lot. Rites will be under the direction of the Huffman Funeral home.
Mr. Macomber's death was caused by pneumonia which developed after surgery. Mr. Macomber was a son of Mr. and Mrs. H.W. Macomber, who were pioneer residents here. Born January 19, 1874, at Clarence, Iowa, his parents moved to Carroll the following October. The family residence was the present home of Mrs. Henry Sievers on North Adams street. Mr. Macomber, better known as "Bi", went into legal partnership here with his father about 50 years ago, following his graduation from law school at the University of Iowa.
In 1902 he joined the credit department of Hibbard-Spencer-Bartlett & Co., in Chicago, remaining with the firm until he retired at the age of 65. Mr. Macomber was married December 24, 1902, to Aulie Pearce of Chicago.
Surviving with his wife are two sons: William, Chicago, and Frank, New York; one brother, Frank L, Winnetka, Illinois, and two sisters, Mrs. A.E. Whitten (Mamie) and Mrs. John McGee (Edith), both of Los Angeles, Calif. A brother, Will, preceded him in death.
