June 3, 1915 - Carroll Times - A telegram was received yesterday morning stating that Mrs. John Shollenberger had passed away in Chicago. Mr. Shollenberger and daughter, Katherine returned home last evening bringing with them the remains. The funeral will be held at the residence tomorrow afternoon at two o'clock and will be in charge of the Eastern Star. All members are requested to meet at the Temple at one o'clock.

June 10, 1915 - Carroll Times - Laura Taylor Shollenberger was born in Berrien county, Michigan, and came to Carroll in 1891. On June 7th, 1893, she was united in marriage with John A. Schollenberger, to which union one daughter, Catherine, was born.

For five years she taught in the Carroll public schools and after taking up the active duties of her home life she was frequently called upon to substitute and always responded in her willing way. For twenty-one years she has been a faithful and active member of the Presbyterian church and for several years assisted with the Junior Christian Endeavor work in that church. She was also active in the Eastern Star rendering whatever assistance she could in a fraternal way. She was a good wife, a faithful mother and a kind friend. Although stricken in the prime of life and having to endure intense suffering and pain, nevertheless she retained her kind motherly interest in her home, family and friends.

She is survived by her husband, daughter, six sisters and two brothers, all of whom deeply mourn her loss. The funeral was held from the home on last Friday afternoon, Rev. Lester of the Presbyterian church officiating. Members of the Eastern Star attended in a body and rend their impressive service at the grave. The many floral offerings and large company of friends gathered at the service paid tribute to the high esteem in which this faithful mother was held.
