May 6, 1920 - Carroll Times - Mrs. Louis Benson, one of the highly respected women of this city, died at St. Anthony's hospital Thursday afternoon, April 29th, at 5 o'clock after an illness of but a few days with peritonitis. Her illness came upon her rapidly and from the first it was feared it would be fatal, but she clung to the hope of recovering thinking she could overcome the trouble as she had done when suffering a like attack twenty years ago.

The funeral was held at the Presbyterian church Sunday afternoon and was largely attended, Rev. Parker officiating. At the cemetery the Eastern Star chapter of which she was a member held short services.

Mrs. Benson before her marriage was Miss Clara Erler, and was born in Berlin, Germany, December 20, 1872. She came with her parents Mr. and Mrs. August Erler, to this city August 1882, and attended the public schools. Her marriage to Louis K. Benson took place May 14, 1891. Her mother died in this city December 25, 1906, and her brother, Alex died here March 11, 1919.

Beside her husband she is survived by her father, one sister, Mattie, Mrs. Maynard, of Sioux City, and four brothers, Edward, of Denison, J.C. Erler of Council Bluffs, and Richard and Rudolph, of Havre, Montana.
