Peter Jensen Dies; Rites to Be On Friday

After a three-week illness, death came to Peter Jensen, 89, retired carpenter, at St. Anthony hospital at 2:30 this morning. Mr. Jensen, a native of Denmark, was a longtime resident of Carroll.

Funeral services will be at 9 a. m. Friday at SS. Peter, and Paul's church, with the Rev. Fr. Frank Greteman offering the requiem mass. Burial will be beside his wife in St. Boniface cemetery, Charter Oak.

The body is resting at the Sharp Funeral home, where the rosary will be prayed at 8 p.m. today and also Thursday. The Rev. Fr. Greteman will lead the rosary Thursday night.

Mr. Jensen, born March 17, 1862, in Denmark, came to Iowa in 1882 and settled at Harlan.

Jan. 12, 1891, he was married at St. Boniface church, Charter Oak, to Anna Topf, who died Feb. 15, 1903, at Charter Oak.

Four children, 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren survive.

Sons and daughters are: Anton Jensen, Carroll; Mrs. Lawrence Balk (Gertrude), Englewood, Colo.; William Jensen and Mrs. Henry Heue (Josephine), Carroll. Mr. and Mrs. Balk are here now.

One daughter, who died in infancy, two brothers and one sister preceded Mr. Jensen in death. He was a member of SS. Peter and Paul's church.
