Another Sudden Death.

H. A. Heater, Engineer of the Electric Light Plant, Died Early Friday Morning.

The community was shocked Friday morning to hear of the death of H. A. Heater. As stated in Thursday's Sentinel he had not lost a night at the electric light plant for five years until Tuesday when he went home sick with the grip. But it was not thought even by his most intimate friends or the doctor that his condition was in any way serious. He had a severe pain in the head Wednesday night and was given an injection of morphine, but was better Thursday and that evening the doctor was there at 10 o'clock. He took the pulse and temperature and found them about normal, with no signs of an unusual development, yet three hours later he breathed his last, going so quickly that by the time the doctor arrived his spirit had winged its flight to the great beyond. The immediate cause of his death was congestion of the lungs.

H. A. Heater was a man of more than ordinary robust physique and seldom had an ache nor a pain. Although of a different build than the late O. C. Betterman, like him he seemed destined to many years of life. He enjoyed such perfect health and had such a strong constitution that it seemed indeed difficult to think of him being dead. In disposition he was modest and unassuming, steady as a clock, upright in his dealings, a true friend, a kind neighbor and a worthy citizen. The community can illy spare such citizens as H. A. Heater. One feels like exclaiming with the poet,

Oh! what hadst thou to do with cruel death
Who was so full of life; or Death with thee,
That thou shouldst die before thou hadst grown old.

He was born in Greene county in November 1863, and was therefore thirty-seven years old last November. His father was one of the old-time millers on the North Coon, his mill being north of Glidden. Both his father and mother are dead and their remains lie in the old cemetery at Rippey. When but twelve years of age he came with his parents to Jasper township, this county, where he lived until grown to manhood. He never married and for the past fourteen years has made his home with W. H. Ochampaugh, first at Auburn, but for the most of this time in Carroll. The funeral services were held yesterday at the M. E. church, the services being in charge of Rev. C. E. Bentley, who was a boyhood friend of Mr. Heater's on North Coon. The remains were interred in the city cemetery, the services being attended by a large number of friends of the deceased.

The relatives present at the funeral were three brothers, Arch Heater of Nebraska; Anis Heater of Vail; Lacey Heater of Glidden township; an uncle, Geo. Heater of Jamaica; a cousin, Ed Heater of Greene county. Other relatives he left were two brothers who live in California and a sister in Nebraska.

Card of Thanks.

We desire to express our heartfelt thanks to the kind friends and neighbors who assisted us during the illness and death of our beloved friend and brother.
Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Ochampaugh,
Arch Heater,

Lacey Heater.
