Grandfather Woodring Is Dead

Died Monday at the Home of His Son in This City -- Almost 93 Years Old.

For several weeks Nicholas Woodring has been in a semi-conscious condition at the home of his son in this city. It as therefore no surprise to the community to learn that he died Monday evening about 9 o'clock. He has been a familiar figure in Carroll for more than twenty years and although he would have been ninety-three years of age had he lived until next Monday, yet until recently he has enjoyed unusual good health. The funeral will be held this afternoon at 3 o'clock at the residence of R. R. Woodring, Rev. W. H. Jordan conducting the services.

Nicholas Woodring was born in Northampton county, Penn., in the year 1810, and in the year 1835 was married to Miss Julia Ann Seiple. To them were born three children, R. R. Woodring, of this city; Edward Woodring, now in Idaho, and Angeline Seiple of Marshalltown. In the year 1852 the family started west and settled in Ohio, coming on to Iowa in '67; in '81 the family settled in Carroll where his son, R. R., has been engaged in business ever since. In the year '92 after a married life of fifty seven years, Mrs. Woodring died and her remains were laid to rest in the Carroll cemetery, where the remains of the late deceased will be carefully laid away tomorrow.
