Wm. Baskerville Dead.

William Baskerville died at the hospital Wednesday, July 7, where he had been for some time. For a number of years he had been failing in health and as a last hope an operation was performed. He was found to be suffering from a complication of internal disease and a subsequent operation had been made. For several days prior to the final dissolution it was known that it was only a question of a few days at best until his troubles would be at an end. The family circle was complete about the dying father's couch at the time of his death.

The funeral was held last Friday Rev. J. W. Taylor of the Methodist church conducting the services.

Wm. Baskerville was born in Ireland, July 20, 1832 and would have been seventy-seven years old had he lived until the twentieth of this month. His parents died while he was a mere youth and he in company with the other children of the family came to America and Wm. made his home with relatives who lived in Illinois. In September 1860 he was united in marriage to Miss Lena Smith at Joliet, ill. In 1902 they moved from Illinois to Fonda, Iowa and in 1900 (sic) located in Carroll where they have since made their home.

To this union there were born nine children, three boys and six girls, all of whom being present at the funeral. The death of the father was the first to break the family circle. The children are: George, William and Oscar of Fonda; Mrs. Chas Relf of Joliet, Ill.; Mrs. L. L. Tregloan, Sheldon, N. D.; Mrs. Effie Handley, Mrs. Anna Martin, Mrs. Edna Tregloan of Carroll. There are seventeen grand children and Bessie Baskerville being the only one to break this group. She was a sweet christian girl and her loss was deeply mourned by the relatives.

Thirty two years ago the deceased became a christian and united with the Baptist church. When he moved where there was no church of that denomination he joined with the Evangelical church and when he came to Carroll he united with the M. E. church of which he had been a faithful member and enjoyed the services of the church.

Though Mr. Baskerville had not resided in this city for any great number of years, he was held in high esteem by a circle of friends who are now called on to mourn his death. His faithful and loving wife who had been his companion for forty-nine years has the sympathy of all in her sorrow.
