Former Carroll Business Man Died Last Saturday at Dubuque

Friends in this city of Frank Dalhoff, former Carroll business man, will regret to learn of his death which occurred Saturday at the St. Francis Home in Dubuque, after a several months' illness.

Frank Dalhoff was born October 30, 1858, at Alton Ruthen, Westphalia, Germany. He came to this country in early youth. He was married to Wilhelmina Felder at Staceyville in 1890. To this union 10 children were born, of which four children died in infancy. The living are: Father Joseph Dalhoff of Early, Mrs. William Eischeid of Halbur, Sister Agnetis of Dubuque, Mary Dalhoff, housekeeper for Father Neu of Mary Hill, Fred Dalhoff of Halbur, Mrs. Catharine Wegner of Manning. Mrs. Dalhoff died in Carroll May 23, 1910.

Mr. Dalhoff was in the shoe business for several years at Hebron, Neb. Later he was associated with J. A. Strohm in the mercantile business in Carroll. This business association continued for about ten years. About eleven years ago Mr. Dalhoff retired from active business and seven years ago he moved to Dubuque which place has since been his home.

The funeral was held Tuesday morning at 9 o'clock at SS. Peter and Paul's church. The body was laid to rest in the family lot in the Catholic cemetery.

The clergy who attended the funeral were: Rev. A. Anthover of Roselle, Rev. M. C. Wendl of Spencer, Rev. E. C. Meyers of Milford, Rev. G. Barry of Royal, Rev. O. Dentlinger of Sac City, Rev. J. Achatz of Rockwell City, J. Schultes of Churdan, M. Schemel of Willey, P. Sturm of Mt. Carmel, A. J. Nuel of Maryhill, John Berger of Arcadia, J. J. Dalhoff of Early, Paul Warzawa, Jos. Cordes, L. Schenkelberg, J. Howley, A. Poeckes, of Carroll. The officers of the mass were: J. J. Dalhoff, celebrant; M. C. Wendl, deacon; O. Dentlinger, sub-deacon; A. Poeckes, master of ceremonies.

The pallbearers were J. B. Dopheide, F. J. Rettenmaier, W. T. Florencourt, Matt Wegner, Jos. Eischeid and M. N. Nagl.

Relatives who attended the funeral from out-of-town were: August and Otto Felder of New Hampton, Henry Felder of Whittemore, Ia., and Rose Dalhoff of Sioux City.
