Thomas Killeen, Retired Farmer, Dies at Westside

Westside -- Thomas Killeen, 84, died at 6:30 p.m. yesterday at his home on the north edge of Westsdie. he succumbed to a heart ailment after a short illness.

Mr. Killeen was an uncle of Mrs. B. G. Tranter and Irene Killeen of Carroll.

Funeral services will be at 9:30 Saturday morning at St. John's church, Arcadia, with the Rev. Fr. Mathias Stork officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.

The body was returned this afternoon from the Sharp Funeral home in Carroll to Mr. Killeen's home in Westside, where the rosary will be prayed at 8 o'clock tonight and also Friday night. The Rev. Fr. Stork will lead the prayers Friday.

Mr. Killeen, son of Patrick and Katherine Killeen, was born March 20, 1863, in Dubuque county, Iowa. In 1881 he came to Carroll county with his parents, who located on a farm one and one-half miles west of Arcadia.

Retiring from the farm in 1910, he moved into Westside. For the last four or five years, he had lived with his brother, Frank, at the north edge of town.

Surviving are his brothers, James and Frank of Westside, and one sister, Mrs. George Cox of Des Moines.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, Patrick, Michael, Edward and John, and two sisters, Mrs. Katherine Farrell and Mrs. Maria Lovely.

He was a member of St. John's church.
