Edward Killeen, Aged Resident Of County, Dies

Well Known County Man Succumbs To Heart Attack

Funeral Services will be Held Wednesday Morning at 9:30 at St. Josephs

Edward Killeen died this morning a few minutes before 5 o'clock in his home on Clark street. The cause of his death was angina pectoris.

The funeral will be held Wednesday morning at 9:30 in St. Joseph's church the Rev. Father M. Bradley celebrating requiem high mass and burial will be made in St. John's cemetery at Arcadia.

Born in Dubuque.

Edward Killeen was born in Dubuque, Apr. 8, 1859, and was married to Mary Heider, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Heider of Carroll, Oct. 22, 1896, and they made their home on a farm near Arcadia.

Two daughters blessed this union, Irene Frances and Mary Ellen, who are left to grieve for a loving father. Mrs. Killeen died Dec. 24, 1909 and for a number of years the home has been in the care of Miss Irene Killeen.

Besides the two daughters, the survivors are two sisters and six brothers: Mrs. G. W. Cox of Des Moines, Mrs. John Farrell, Tom Killeen, Michael Killeen, Pat Killeen, Frank Killeen, James Killeen, all of West Side and John Killeen of Vail. A sister, Mrs. Peter Lovely preceded him in death.

Here For 19 Years.

Mr. Killeen was a farmer by occupation and spent the first part of his life on a farm west of Arcadia. 19 years ago the family removed to Carroll were he retired and took life easy after years of labor.

Although afflicted with heart trouble for some time, Mr. Killeen was in his usual health. He was about town the latter part of the week and attended mass in St. Joseph's church Sunday morning. He was taken ill this morning at ten minutes to 4 o'clock and died just one hour later, at ten minutes to 5 o'clock. He was a devoted father and his death was a severe shock to his daughters and to the friends of the community. He was a devout member of St. Joseph's church and also a member of the Holy Name society of that parish.
