Funeral of Albert Manneman

Funeral services for Albert Manneman, who died at sea, October 2, were held Friday morning from Mellott's undertaking parlors and burial was made in S. S. Peter and Paul's cemetery.

Albert was the son of John Manneman living near Breda and was born August 25, 1891. Up to the time of going into service, July 26, 1918, he was one of the successful young farmers of this county. He was sent with the Carroll county boys to Camp Gordon and sailed with them during the middle of September from Camp Merritt, New Jersey, to France. But taking critically sick on the way over he never landed in France and died while preparing to serve his country.

Accompanied by a soldier from the east his body arrived in Carroll Thursday evening for burial.

Besides his father he leaves several brothers and sisters, August, Fred, of Marshall, Minnesota, Anton, Mrs. Ida Rein, of Chicago, and Mrs. Joe Meister, of Auburn.

Members of the local home guard were the pall bearers and the city flag was at half mast all day.
