Aged Resident of Breda Dies Early Saturday

Breda -- Special -- Leo Fix died at his home northwest of Breda Saturday at 12:45 a.m., from complications due to old age. Mr. Fix had been ill only a day.

He was born at Edilbach, Bavaria, Germany, Dec. 9, 1843. He left his native land in June, 1872, and came to Benton county, where he resided for three years. May 24, 1874 he was united in marriage to Miss Catherine Schmall at Norway, Ia. They came to Sac county in the fall of 1875 and located on the farm seven miles northwest of Breda where they resided until his death. At the time of his death Mr. Fix had reached the age of 88 years.

Six children were born to them, three dying in infancy. The surviving children are Mary and Otto at home and Mrs. L. J. Schmitz of Omaha, Neb., three grandsons, Urban, Feliz and Leonard Schmitz of Omaha, Neb., an aged sister, Mrs. Catherine Elsasser of Pocahontas and a brother-in-law, Adam Kleeman of Peerless, Mont. Mrs. Fix died June 17, 1921.

Mr. Fix had been in service in the war of 1866-1871 in his native land. Funeral services were held at St. Bernard church at 10 o'clock Monday morning, Rev. E. L. Schleyer had charge of services. Burial took place beside his wife in St. Bernard cemetery. Relatives from a distance who came to attend the funeral were Mrs. Catherine Elsasser and son Hugo of Pocahontas, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Lampman, John Elsasser and son Ernest, Mrs. Mary Ryan, Mr. and Mrs. Al Thomas and sons Ed and Carl, Christ Thoma, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Thoma, Anton Thomas and Miss Alice Fix of Varina, Mr. and Mrs. Anton Kleeman and Edward Kleeman of Ashton, Rudolph Fix of Mandan, N. D., Rev. James Slattery, Wall Lake, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Ellerbrock of Auburn.
