Elizabeth Gertrude Ramsey was born October 22, 1888, near Botna, Ia., and passed away August 4, 1928, at the Wyatt Memorial Hospital, Manning, Iowa, having reached the age of 39 years, 9 months, 12 days.

She was one of the family of eleven children of Mr. and Mrs. Alex Campbell, and was a graduate of manning High School and Teacher’s College at Cedar Falls.

She spent several years teaching and on June 10, 1913, was united in marriage to Charles Ramsey, Jr. of Botna, Iowa. To this union were born six children, four sons and two daughters, namely: Neva, William, Howard, Doris, Donald, and Robert. Besides these she leaves her mother, Mrs. Emma Campbell; three brothers, John, Robert, and Tom Campbell, 7 sisters, the Misses Edith, Alice and Myrtle, all of Botna, Mrs. Frank Algren of Manning, Mrs. Padon, of Oswego, Ill., Mrs. John Vest of Red Oak, and Mrs. Fred Ruhs of Irwin.

She was a very loving wife and mother, and her first consideration was always the welfare of her family. She was held in the highest esteem by her friends and neighbors and will be greatly missed by all.

The funeral was held Monday at 2 P.M. at the United Bretheren church in Botna. Rev. J. W. Holliday, Pastor of the M.E. church at Irwin delivered the funeral sermon and a mixed quartet, Rev. A. Chr. Itse, Mrs. R. E. Houghton, Mrs. Melvin Constable and E. C. Farrell with Miss Irene Wilson as accompanyist, All Irwin people, furnished the funeral music. The floral offerings were very beautiful, attesting the high esteem in which the deceased and her family are held.

Interment was in the Manning cemetery. The pall bearers were: Ed Ruhs, Harry Ruhs, Wilford Moore, Merlen Thompson, Abner Gray and Merle Vandermann.

Relatives from out of town present at the funeral were: Mrs. McCracken and two daughters, Blanche and Dora, Mr. and Mrs. John Rorabaugh and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Rorabaugh, all of Colfax; Mr. and Mrs. John Vest of Red Oak, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Kelley of Des Moines, Mrs. Baker of Newton, John Ramsey and son of Minnesota, and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Ruhs of Irwin.
