I translated the following obituary from Der Carroll Demokrat, a German-language newspaper published in Carroll, Iowa, between about 1874 and 1920. It was originally published on Friday, 8 March 1895. Any information in brackets or notes at the end are my own explanations. It reads as follows:

Halbur, from last week

[Mrs. Rupiper]

On last Saturday, shortly before evening, the elderly mother of Wm. Rupiper passed away peacefully at the age of 83 after having received the Last Rights. The burial took place on Wednesday at the cemetery in Hillsdale [Roselle] amid a large attendance of mourners. The deceased was a very respected woman and a caring mother to her children, and so she was highly esteemed by everyone she knew. Our deepest sympathies to the bereaved. May she rest in peace.

NOTES: I believe the deceased was Katharina Rupiper, listed in the 1895 state census as 82 years old.
