Henry Preyt Dies; Arcadia Civic Leader
Henry H. Preyt, 58, member of the board of education of the Arcadia public schools, died unexpectedly at his home here at 6:30 yesterday morning. His death was attributed to high blood pressure.Funeral services will be at Arcadia tomorrow afternoon. Short rites at the family home at 1:3o will be followed by services at the Arcadia Presbyterian church at 2 o'clock, with the Rev. Stauss of Carnavon officiating. Burial will be in the Arcadia cemetery beside his wife, who died in September of 1946. The Masonic service will be given.
The body will be returned to the family home at 5 o'clock this afternoon from the Ohde Funeral Home in Manning. Mr. Preyt, son of the late Henry Preyt and Mrs. John Witt, was born December 15, 1888 at Arcadia. His father died in 1914 and his mother in 1939. He spent his life in this community, having moved into town March 1, 1947, on his retirement from farming. His marriage to Minnie Brandt took place March 5, 1914 at the Presbyterian Manse in Arcadia with the late Rev. Ringgold officiating.
Survivors
Survivors are seven daughters, eight grandchildren and one brother, George Preyt, living in California. His daughters are Mrs. Joe Reetz (Luverna), Mrs. Glenn Hinze (Lucille), Mrs. Dean Brightwell (Arleen), Mrs. John Kroeger (Velma), and Mrs. Leroy Schuette (Jeanette), all of Arcadia and Lois and Doreen at home.Mr. Preyt was worshipful master of Setting Sun Lodge No. 349, Westside. he also belonged to Oreder of the Eastern Star of Westside; and Copestone Chapter No. 78, Azgad Commandery No. 63, Knights Templar, Carroll. He belonged to the Arcadia Presbyterian Church.
