James Reed, of Carroll County, went to Chicago last week, and got into trouble. The detectives say he loaded his pockets with bogus nickels, seated himself next the pay-box of the street car, and when passengers forwarded a five-cent piece, exchanged it deftly for one of his own worthless ones, which he dropped into the box. So they arrested him, and bound him over for trial in the sum of $500. As he is not a resident of Chicago there is a fair chance that he will be punished-whether he is guilty or not.
