I purchased my Calhoun County History several years ago from the Museum at Rockwell City. They have no more copies for sale.
The book contains articles on John J. Lenz and sons Emil and Walter. Information pieced together from these articles and sometimes not in agreement, tell us that John J. Lenz (born 1840) and Augusta Hinks (or Degner) (both from Rosen, Germany) had either 9 or 10 boys and one girl. One son, Theodore Married Alice Brennan in 1906 and farmed the home place after John died in 1904. Theodore was injured when kicked by a mule. This later caused his death at the age of 49.
