In Response To: Re: Emil Lenz (Mindy Lenz Winton)

I believe I have a link to this family. My g-g-grandfather was Conrad Richard Lenz, who's father was John Jacob Lenz, married to Augusta Hinks. According to the 1880 Census, John Jacob's children included (est. dates of birth in parens): Albert (1863), Amos (1864), Conrad (1866), Augustita (1867), John (1871), Rhinehart (1873), Eddy (1875), Adolph (1877), and Julius (1878). My guess is the "Amos" from the census was actually Emil.

Somewhere around the turn of the century, my Lenz family migrated from Marshall County, Illinois (my great grandfather was born in Varna, Ill. in 1893) to Calhoun County, Iowa. Sometime between 1900 and 1910, Conrad's family migrated to south central Minnesota, near Fairmont, MN. Fredrick Lenz, my great grandfather moved to several other Minnesota locations, as well as near Luverne, IA. Conrad, his wife, Bertha J. Kemritz, Fred and his wife Laura Wegner, as well as two of Fred's brothers (Edward R. and Arnold A.) are buried in Luverne Cemetery. Any more information regarding other branches of the family or requests regarding my information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
