Marriage information

PARKER, SNELL

In an application for a spousal survivor's benefit for a Civil War Pension, a Mary E. Snell stated that her maiden name was Mary E. Parker, that she was born in Iowa, and had married Oscar Snell in Calhoun County Iowa in 1866 (by a Justice of the Peace). I have no other record of that marriage, nor do I know for certain who Mary's family is. However, I recently found a Mary E. Parker listed in the 1856 Iowa census as a daughter of Pleasant and Sarah Parker living in Jasper County, Iowa. Her stated age would be about right. This may be her family. I am hoping there will be a reference to her parents in the JP marriage record is one can be located. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
