In Response To: town of Purgatory (Kathy Renn)

The town of Muddy was moved about a mile and became Somers. Somers is celebrating their centennial over July 4th weekend. Rands is about 1/2 way between Lohrville and Rockwell City on the RR. I believe the other two names refer to areas and not towns. There are two Purgatory Creeks in Calhoun County. The one near Lohrville begins 5 miles north of Lohrville and proceeds south-southwest There is an East and West Cedar Creek comming from the Somers area passing south-southwest passing two miles east of Lohrville. There is a very small creek passing through Lohrville feeding into Cedar Creek but it is unnamed on the 1884 and 1901 maps. It may have been called Little Cedar, but I do not know.
