town of Purgatory

I have recently viewed some old copies of the Lohrville Enterprise, looking for items from the Farnhamville area. While looking thru these papers I came across columns from different towns in the area such as Rands, Muddy, Little Cedar, and Purgatory. I would appreciate it if someone could tell me where Purgatory used to be. It could be somewhere near Lohrville or Farnhamville, but could be in Green or Webster counties also. Thanks.
