Mrs. M. Doyle Died Wednesday
Mrs. Mary Doyle, 68 years, 9 months and 16 days old, died of a lingering illness at St. Joseph’s hospital in Fort Dodge early Wednesday morning, October 13th. Mrs. Doyle has been semi-invalid from a heart ailment for the past several months and was taken to the hospital in Fort Dodge last week when her condition became worse. Relatives remained with her during her stay there. Mrs. Doyle’ husband, John Doyle, preceded her in death several years ago. She is survived by four children, Mrs. O. DeVolder, Mrs. Bert Knight and Edward Doyle of Pomeroy and Jack Doyle of Grand Junction. Also several grandchildren. Mrs. Doyle has two sisters living, Mrs. C. L. Drommer of Pomeroy and Mrs. Vincent Fuchs of Fonda, and two brothers living, John and Bud Kruchten of near Fonda. Two brothers and two sisters preceded her in death. Funeral services will be held from St. Mary’s Catholic Church Friday morning at 9:30 with the Rev. Fr. Graf officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Obituary – Mrs. M. Doyle
Mary Magdalene Kruchten, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Kruchten, was born December 27, 1866, in Wisconsin. With her parents she emigrated to Iowa in a covered wagon at the age of one year. Iowa had but few settlers at that time and no railroads. Among the pioneer tales which she recounted were the grasshopper plague and several prairie fires. She was married to John Doyle, May 15, 1895, at Fonda. They moved to a farm three miles north of Pomeroy and resided there until 1899 when they moved to Pomeroy, making their home here since that time. Mrs. Doyle’s husband preceded her in death 16 years ago. To this union for children were born, all of whom are living. They are Mrs. O. DeVolder, Mrs. Bert Knight, and Edward Doyle of Pomeroy and John Doyle of Grand Junction. Also several grandchildren. Mrs. Doyle has two sisters and two brothers living, namely: Mrs. C. L. Drommer of Pomeroy; Mrs. Vincent Fuchs of Fonda; and John and Bud Kruchten of near Fonda. Two brothers and two sisters preceded her in death. Death came to her at St. Joseph’s hospital in Fort Dodge, October 13, 1937, at which time she was 68 years, 9 months and sixteen days old. Mary Kruchten Doyle’s kind and patient disposition and Christian character will long be a cherished memory in the hearts of her friends. Funeral services were held last Friday morning, October 15, at 9:30 from St. Mary’s Church with the Rev. Fr. Richard Graf officiating. Burial was made in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Pall bearers were Jhon Jenstscheck, Michael Clancy, James Kennedy, J. H. Baker, J. E. Sanquist and James Murphy. Out of town people who attended the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. Vincent Fuchs, Mr. and Mrs. Claire Drommer, Mr. and Mrs. John Fruchten of Fonda; Mrs. Elizabeth Kruchten and Mrs. Lou Erie of Ft. Dodge, Raymond Schott of Bradgate; Mr. and Mrs. Swan Nelson and Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Kruel of Lohrville: and Mrs. Herman Wenzel of New Richland, Minnesota.
