Alice M. Jessee - age 93, of Pomeroy, passed away on Tuesday, June 21, 2016, at her home in Pomeroy, Iowa. Alice Marie Doyen was born July 31, 1922, in Petersburg, Illinois. She was the daughter of Henry and Anna (Seehusen) Doyen. Alice graduated from Pomeroy High School in 1940. On December 25, 1941, Alice married Russell Jessee at St. John Lutheran Church in Pomeroy. The couple made their home on the family farm northwest of Pomeroy where they farmed and raised their family. In 1982, they moved into Pomeroy. Russell passed away in 1992 and Alice continued to make her home in Pomeroy.
Alice was a member of the Elfsborg Lutheran Church near Pomeroy, the ladies church circle, Community Club, Senior citizens and 4-G Club. She enjoyed flowers, playing cards and embroidery. Survivors include her children, Colleen Kirch of Raytown, MO; Shirley (Marvin) DeWall of Palmer; Olan Jessee of Fonda; Bonnie LaShure of Wilmington, IL; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Alice was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Russell; daughter-in-law, Ardis Jessee; son-in-law, Joe Kirch; brother and sister-in-law, Louis and Rose Doyen and sister and brother-in-law, Margaret and Adolph Orth.
