Doris Darline Behrends
(February 23, 1926 - January 16, 2018)

Darline Behrends - age 91, of Pomeroy, Iowa passed away Tuesday, January 16, 2018, at the N.C. Little Hospice Home in Edina, Minnesota. Doris Darline Davis was born February 23, 1926, in Jefferson, Iowa. She was the daughter of Kenneth and Edith (Monical) Davis. Darline was the third of five girls; Beverly, Wilma, Shirley and Donna. Darline attended grade school in Jefferson and later the family moved to Knoke, where she graduated from Jolley High School in 1943. After high school graduation, she attended Buena Vista College, then taught country high school for three years and also worked at Trinity Lutheran Hospital in Fort Dodge. In November of 1948, Darline married Virgil Behrends and to this union, four children were born. The couple farmed east of Knoke and Darline also worked at Knoke Groccery Store, the Post Office and srarted with Central Labs in Fort Dodge in 1967, where she would spend 22 years of her career, before retiring. After retirement, Darline worked at the Pomeroy Care Center. After Virgil’s passing in 1997, Darline enjoyed spending time with her special friend, Wendell Krause. Darline enjoyed gardening, reading, cooking and spending quality time with family. Survivors include her children, Sheila (Al) Kruse of Prior Lake, MN and Calvin (Linda) Behrends of Pomeroy; three grandchildren, Jarod (Emily) Kruse and their children, Sam, Jacob and Cassidy, Angie (Matt) Fitzgerald and their son, Jordy, Wade (April) Behrends and their children, Jasmin and Curtis; sister, Shirley Sage of Lytton and Wendell’s children, Rebecca Howrey, Patricia Heth, Cheryl Krause and Kevin Krause. Darline was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Virgil; twin boys, Larry and Jerry; sisters, Beverly Sorenson, Wilma Williams and Donna Kelly and special friend, Wendell.
