Faye Agnes Holtapp
(January 11, 1926 - July 28, 2020)

Faye A. Holtapp – age 94, formerly of Pomeroy, passed away on Tuesday, July 28, 2020, at the Ridgewood Assisted Living in Bennington, Nebraska.
Faye Agnes Knights was born on January 11, 1926 in Pomeroy, Iowa. She was the daughter of Bert and Agnes (Doyle) Knights. Faye graduated from Pomeroy High School in 1944. Upon graduation, she attended Buena Vista College and earned a teaching certificate. She taught in a one-room schoolhouse for three years before her marriage to Vernon C. Holtapp on December 27, 1947. She became a homemaker upon her marriage and spent the next 30 years raising their 5 children. Vernon was often working to support their family, and Faye was the typical 50’s homemaker, long hours cooking, cleaning and taking care of the children. When the children were on their own, she went back to her love of teaching and was a teacher’s aide at Pomeroy Community School until her retirement in 1985 when Vernon also retired. Faye was a member of St. John Lutheran Church. She was often found in the church kitchen helping with weddings and funerals, even into her 80’s. Her pies were often the most sought-after dessert. She also was a part of the quilting committee of church women who met regularly to make quilts for Lutheran missions.
During retirement, Faye enjoyed many trips to their family cabin in Lake of the Ozarks where she enjoyed cooking for the extended family, fishing, reading and relaxing on the shore. When not in Missouri, she enjoyed gardening and coffees with her many girlfriends, in particular the 3M clubmembers. Survivors include her children, Paul (Linda) Holtapp of Bennington, NE, Beverly Dietrich (Larry) of Omaha, NE and Bill (Jana) Holtapp of Omaha, NE; 9 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Faye was preceded in death by Vernon, her husband for 69 years; daughters, Janice Loots and Jean Holtapp and sisters, Lorraine Terry, Roberta Allison, Joy Behrends and Jean LeWarne.
