Elizabeth "Bette" Wiemers – age 84, of Pomeroy, passed away Friday, March 11, 2022, at her home in Pomeroy, Iowa. Elizabeth Louise Thesing was born on December 26, 1937, in Gray Eagle, MN. She was the daughter of Alois and Elizabeth C. (Schneider) Thesing. On December 30, 1965, Bette was united in marriage to Raymond Wiemers in Elk Point, SD. The couple settled on their farm near Pomeroy. Bette was a dedicated mother and also helped Ray on the farm. In the late 1990's, Ray and Bette moved from the farm into Pomeroy. Ray passed away in 2015 and Bette continued to make her home in Pomeroy.
Bette was a member St. Thomas Catholic Church in Manson and a past member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and the Altar Society. Bette was gifted with her country voice and played guitar with her husband Ray for many years. She also had a talent in knitting and had gifted her family with many handmade quilts over the years. She loved spending time with her cat "Bootsie" who was nicknamed after her husband Ray "Boots". She also loved playing cards and marbles with her grandkids.
Survivors include her sister, Lauretta (Larry) Schenkey of Kelly Lake, MN; daughters, Stephanie (Matt) Dolan of West Des Moines, Lynn Brenny and Cathy (Brian) Steinbauer of Owatonna, MN and grandchildren, Tyler, Nicholas, Nathan, Alex Jr., Stacy, Jessica and Justin. Bette was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ray; a daughter, Karen Booge; a son, Robert Booge; a granddaughter, Leslie Hodgell; a grandson, Jason Brenny; brothers, Bill, Herb and Richard Thesing and a sister, Doris "Dee" Simmons.
