Bill Williams, age 90 of Lake City, IA, passed away on Thursday, August 18, 2022, at Shady Oaks Care Center in Lake City, IA. Billy John Williams was born on May 5, 1932, at the old McVay Hospital, in Lake City, to parents John and Bess (Horigan) Williams. He grew up in Elm Grove Township just five miles from Lake City on the farm. Bill attended Elm Grove Country school through the fifth grade and then attended Lake City grade school. Bill graduated from Lake City high school and then enlisted to serve his country in the United States Army. On May 23, 1954, Bill was united in marriage to Patricia Ann Howard at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Auburn, IA. This union was blessed with two sons Scott and Michael. Bill was a farmer and an Elm Grove Township Trustee. He loved his dogs and always took them with him to work. Farming was his lifelong passion. Later in life, he enjoyed landscaping, planting trees and shrubs and especially flowers as well as watching football and visiting with others. Most of all, he loved spending time with his kids, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife Pat H. Williams of Lake City, IA; children: Scott (Kit) Williams of Lake City, IA, and Michael (Special Friend Dawn Van Der Stoep) Williams of North Liberty, IA; grandchildren: Renee (Steve) Roland and family of Sac City, IA, Angi (Michael) Crowder and family of San Angelo, TX, Jerome Winger of Odebolt, IA, Joan (Leif) Green and family of Sac City, IA, Chris (Stephanie) Williams of North Bergan, New Jersey, and Andrew (Emma) Williams of Marion, Iowa; 12 great-grandchildren; 9 great-great-grandchildren many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends. Bill was preceded in death by his parents John (Ed) and Bess Williams, brother Don (Bud) and Mable Williams, sister Margaret Williams-Deuel-Schumacker, and parents-in-law Thomas (Buck) and Helen Howard.
