James Homer Sandy
(February 9, 1873 – November 30, 1957)

Obituary
James Homer Sandy, son of Joseph C. and Atha Linda Goss Sandy, was born in Marion Co., Iowa February 9, 1873. He passed away in a local hospital, November 29, 1957, at the age of eighty-four years. He came with his parents to Calhoun Co., Iowa in 1876. They located on a farm southeast of Lake City where he grew up. He attended the county school, the Glidden Normal School, and later Drake University. During his early life he farmed and taught in various country schools. During many years, in his later life, he was a successful real estate broker. He was the seventh child in a family of ten children. He leaves two remaining brothers, Dr. B. B. Sandy of Ekalaka, Montana, and D. L. Sandy of Lake City. He was united in marriage to Miss Daisy Maude Elliott of Lake City June 25, 1901. He leaves one daughter, Mrs. Edward (Lucille) Burchett of Des Moines and one son, Marion Sandy of Cedar Rapids. One son, Paul, has passed away. He also leaves four grandchildren. Home was by nature mentally alert and for many years he dealt extensively in real estate in this vicinity. His health began to fail some time ago and the last few weeks of his life were spent in the hospital, where everything possible was done for his welfare and comfort. A private memorial service was held at the Huffman Memorial Chapel, Sunday, December 1, 1957 with the Rev. C. O. Stuckenbruck officiating. The interment was in the Lake City Cemetery.
