Mark Scott Schossow
(September 1, 1960 - December 21, 2009)

Mark Scott Schossow - 49, the son of Robert and Marlene Schossow, died on December 21, 2009, at the Pocahontas Community Hospital. Mark was born on September 1, 1960 at Fort Dodge Lutheran Hospital. Mark was baptized at St. John's on October 2, 1960. He attended Pomeroy Community School, and graduated in 1978. Mark attended one year at Iowa Central Community College. Mark worked at North West Bodies in Manson. He worked in the plant and also delivered the utility boxes out of state. During his 10 years living in Des Moines, he was a salesman for Cutty's Camping Club selling memberships, sold imported cars, and worked for several different construction companies from pouring concrete and rebuilding bridges. He was instrumental in the reconstruction of the Court Avenue Bridge! In 2004, Mark moved back to Pomeroy and started working on the St. John's Lutheran Church doing the tuck pointing. Mark also work for several people around town as a handyman. But "working" at Byron's was his favorite "job". Mark enjoyed singing, golfing, watching NASCAR and playing cribbage. He also was an avid Tennessee Titans fan and loved playing board games with his family. If Mark knew you, he loved you like family. His laughter was contagious and lifted your spirits. Mark continues to touch other's lives by being an organ donor. Survivors include his parents, Robert & Marlene Schossow of Pomeroy; sister, Bobette (David) Shinker of Stanwood, IA; brother, Tim (Lisa) Schossow of Cantonment, FL; sister, Beverly (Tom) Russell of Des Moines, IA; sister, Jennifer (Donald) Mosinski of Audubon, IA; 6 nieces, 4 nephews, and 3 great-nieces. Mark is preceded in death by a sister Ramona Ann; nephews, John David and Anthony Edward Shinker; grandparents, John & Thelma Schossow and Fred & Esther Oberhelman; aunt & uncle, Dwayne & Darlene Oberhelman; and aunt, Beverly Schossow.
