Harm Schoon
(March 8, 1857 – October 29, 1933)

Obituary
Harm Schoon, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Gerd Schoon, was born at East Grossesehn, East Frisia, Germany on Mar. 8, 1857. He was baptized in the name of the Triune God on Mar. 29, 1857. At the age of 16 years, having received catechetical instructions, he was confirmed in the Evangelical Lutheran Church at Aurich, Oldendorf, on Feb. 20, 1874. After having served his government in the army for a number of years he left his old home and country in March 1883, and came to the United States. He worked in the neighborhood of Pomeroy for several years and in the summer of 1887 he was united in holy wedlock with Geske Wiemers, which marriage was blessed with three sons and four daughters, who, with the exception of two daughter, preceded their father in death. After his marriage Mr. Schoon moved on a farm near Blanden, in which vicinity he spent most of the remaining years of his life. Two years ago he moved into his home in the north part of Manson where he lived under the tender care of his daughter, Anna. Last spring his strength began to fail and later it became apparent that he was suffering from cancer of the stomach. During the last few weeks he weakened very rapidly and on the last Sunday evening at 15 minutes to 9 o’clock he fell asleep peacefully at the age of 76 years, 7 months and 21 days. Mr. Schoon leaves to mourn his death two daughters, Anna at home and Mrs. Tena Sanders of Chicago, three grandchildren, one brother in Germany and one sister, Mrs. Ebbet Peters of Lizard Township, besides many other relatives and friends.
