Mrs. Augusta Julia Prange, nee Zimmerman, was born in Germany on July 6, 1848. She was married to Mr. Julius Prange, who was killed in the Franco-German war of 1870-1871. One son was born to this union. About 58 years ago she immigrated to this country and was united in marriage to August Theodore Prange, brother of her former husband. The surviving children are: Al Prange, Pomeroy; August Prange, Washta, Ia.; William Prange of Fort Dodge, and Mrs. Emma Briggs of Pomeroy. Mrs. Prange is also survived by her son (of her first marriage), Frank Prange of Minneapolis; sixteen grandchildren and one great grandchild. On December 18th Mrs. Prange suffered a stroke of paralysis, while on a visit to her son in Fort Dodge, and on December 22nd passed away, at the ripe old age of 81 years, 5 months and 6 days. Mrs. Prange had resided at Pomeroy for practically 58 years, coming to this community when she left her native land. She had always enjoyed good health, and was active until the last few days of her life. The funeral was held at the First Evangelical church here on December 24th, conducted by Rev. Schumann, and interment was in Union Cemetery. The pallbearers were all grandchildren: Russell and Gordon Prange and Harold Briggs of Pomeroy, and Ellred, Emerson and Dean Prange of Fort Dodge. Among those from out of town to attend the funeral were: William Prange of Fort Dodge; August Prange of Washta; Mr. and Mrs. Frank Prang and Mr. and Mrs. George Prange and Mrs. Anderson of Fonda; Mr. and Mrs. John Reimers, Havelock; Mr. and Mrs. Claus of Fort Dodge.
