JASPER SHEARER
LAKE CITY — Funeral services for Jasper Shearer, 81, Lake City, were held Friday, October 7, at 2:30 p.m. at the Huffman Memorial Chapel here. The Rev. Carl O. Jensen, pastor of the Lake City Methodist Church, officiated. Mrs. Thomas Williams sang, accompanied by Mrs. Richard Johnston. Pall bearers were Clarence Mccauley Jr., Clyde Bradley, George Stout, George DeSart, H. L. Barthman, and Ora Schulte. Burial was in the Grant City cemetery.
Jasper William Shearer, son of John and Elizabeth Ayres Shearer, was born near Grant City, la., June 21, 1879. On November 1, 1905, he was married to Margaret May Salisbury at Grant City. They lived in Lake City for 51 years. Mr Shearer was a retired carpenter. He died October 4, at McCrary-Rost hospital here after a long illness.
Preceding him in death were his parents; one son, Basil; and three sisters.
He is survived by his wife, four children: Mrs. Leonard Schulte, Lake City; Mrs. Arnold Blair, Harry Shearer,,and Frank Slater, all of Pontiac, Mich., also 15 grandchildren, and 12 great-grand children.
