MRS. FERN OPAL RICE
LAKE CITY — Mrs. Fern Opal Rice, 66, of Lake City, died Saturday, Aug. 14, at her home of a heart attack. She was a retired telephone operator of the General Telephone Co. for 22 years, a member of the Baptist Church and Star Rebekah Lodge.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Huffman Memorial Chapel in Lake City with the Rev. Kenneth Peterson officiating. Burial will be in the Lake City cemetery. Friends may call after 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Rice was born April 28, 1910 at Gilmore City, a daughter of Martin Christenson and Ethel Greenland. She married Harry Rice June 20, 1929 at Fort Dodge.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Larry (Marilyn) Nile of Vancouver, Wash.; her mother , Mrs. Ethel Christenson of Albert City; a sister, Mrs. Dorothea Brewster of Laurens; a brother-in-law, Archie Rice of Lake City, a grandson, nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband, Harry, who died in 1974, she was preceded in death by her father.
