May 2, 1889Obituary
Died - Ruby Alice Wick, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Wick, April 27, 1889, aged 15 years, 9 months, and 9 days.
Ruby Alice Wick was born in Tama county, Iowa, July 18th, 1873, died at her home in Calhoun township, Calhoun county, Iowa, on the date above given.
Ruby was loved by her many school mates who felt great sympathy for her during her sickness, but none feel the loss so keenly as the inmates of the home who watched by the bed of suffering so many weary days and nights.
Brothers and sisters will miss her as they come and go, but no heart feels the loss like that of the father and mother who watched by her bedside with such tender care and attended to her every want. Her voice is heard no more on earth, but Heaven will repay it all. She leaves the father and mother, two brothers and three sisters to mourn her loss.
Many friends and relatives sympathize with the bereaved ones. Her funeral took place at the M. E. Church where she had attended Sabbath school and was largely attended.
Rev. Eslick preached the funeral sermon from the appropriate words.
"Remember now thy Creator in the days of youth while the evil days come not, nor the years draw nigh, when thou shall say I have no pleasure in them. (Ecclesiastics 12-1). He was kindly assisted by Rev. Swem of the M. E. church.
