Mrs. Tillie Larson, widow of the late Mr. Matt Larson, and third daughter of Hans and Olia Madson of Lake City, Iowa, was born August 31, 1872, and lived with her parents until 1893, when she moved to Chicago.

She was married to Mr. Matt Larson in Lake City, June 17, 1896. the happy couple began their new home in Chicago. Soon afterwards her husband failed in health and died December 17, 1897. Mrs. Larson united with the Baptist church in Lake city, March, 1889, but on her removal to Chicago, transferred her membership to that city. She died Monday evening, May 29, 1889, but on her removal to Chicago, transferred her membership to that city. She died Monday evening, May 29, 1899, after an illness of some weeks of malarial fever, which terminated in brain fever. She was a faithful Christian, a consecrated worker, an efficient Sunday school teacher, and beloved by all who knew her. She had a true and loving heart, and was upright and conscientious in all her motives, plans and relations. Though of a modest and retiring nature she was loyal and true in all her convictions of truth and duty. After her husband’s death she seemed to enter a higher Christian experience, and devoted herself with marked power to active Christian work.

Funeral services were held in the Pilgrim Temple Baptist church, Chicago, conducted by her pastor, Dr. Thoms, who took for his text the scripture, “Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord.” The body was brought to Lake City, June 1, and further services were held in her old home church, pastor Roney preaching from the words, “Not dead, but Sleepeth.” The remains were then laid to rest in Lake City cemetery.

She leaves a father and mother, two brothers and seven sisters, besides a large circle of relatives and friends to mourn her loss.

The floral tributes at the funeral were the finest ever seen in this city.
