Mrs.J.A. Hunter Taken By Death
Resident of this community for 55 Years; Funeral Held Wednesday at Presbyterian Church
Mrs. J.A. Hunter, a resident of this community for 54 years passed away at her home Monday morning.
She had been in poor health for a number of years.
The funeral was held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the Presbyterian church conducted by the pastor, Rev. Luke.Two hymns, Face to Face and Abide with Me were sung by Loren Robeson with Mrs. C.L. McDermott at the piano. The ushers were Philip Baird and Keith McKinley. The pall bearers were Hugh Baird, A.E. Wheatley,W.W. Clover, Earl Waters,Lynn Robeson and Lee McClure. Interment was made in Evergreen cemetery.
Ida L. Decker was born in DeKalb county, Ill., the 18th of April 1857.
Passed away at her home in Lohrville August 21,1933.
She was united in marriage to J. A. Hunter January 16,1878. To this union five children were born. With her husband she came to Lohrville in the fall of 1879, living in or near Lohrville ever since. She was a member of the church at Mayfield, Ill., and united with the Presbyterian church at the Lohrville when that church was started. She was an active member in the church and Sunday school as long as her health permitted. She leaves to mourn her loss her husband, Jas. A. Hunter, four children and their families: Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Hunter and daughter, Pauline of Spirit Lake, Mr. and Mrs. Lee Hunter and daughter Donna, Mr. and Mrs. Guy McClure and daughter Ruth and son Hunter, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Hunter, one son having preceeded her in death eleven years eleven years ago, leaving her wife, Verna E. Hunter and daughter Glen Elsie all of Lohrville. two living sisters, Mrs. E.E. Rothecher of Salem, Ore., and Mrs. Henry Flagg of Zillah, Wash.,other relatives and a host of friends.
Among the relatives and friends from out of town were;Jay L. Hunter of Spirit Lake; Mrs. J.H. Hunter,G.M. Hunter, J.D. Hunter, Mrs. E. H. Abel, Mrs.D.J. Brennan, all of LaPorte City; Mr. and Mrs. B.E. Morton and family, Mrs. Olive Cleveland, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Martz and Mr. and Mrs. Ed Jones of Rockwell City; Dr. John Morton of Callendar; Mr. and Mrs. E. L. Nichols and daughter, Mrs. H. Harris and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Glen Cleveland and son and E. F. Richey of Somers; Mr. and Mrs. J. N. Nichols, Mr. and Mrs. Lester Nichols, B. F. Moyers and son, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Fuller and Mrs. Eva McClure of Lake City; Mrs. H.R. Cummings and Miss Marie Stephens of Ames; Miss Louisa Peak of Estherville and Paul Jefferson of Manson.
