Last Rites held for Mrs. Bertha kolb
Funeral services were held Friday afternoon, in St. Paul American Lutheran
Church of Manson, for Mrs. Bertha Kolb, 79, who died Tuesday, June 3.She had been failing health for several years but seemed much as usual
until she suffered a severe heart attach that morning at the home of her
daughter Mrs. Will Dahlene. She died on route to Lutheran Hospital at Fort
Dodge.Mrs. kolb was a resident of this area for many years but recently she had
divided her time between her two daughters, Mrs Dahlene in Manson and Mrs.
Arza Rummel at Rockwell City.Pastor A. O. Mardorf conducted the services, Sharon Folkerts sang
accompanied by Mrs. Elcena pagler, Organist.Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers were Darwin Rummel, John
Meils, Virgil Renken, Orville Bangston, Norman Quade and Dwane Rummel.Mrs. Kolb, whose maiden names was Helen Emma bertha Tiemann was born June
10 1878 at Buckley, Illinois, Daughter of henry and helena Tiemann nee
Hoffmann.As an infant she was baptized on June 23 1878 by the late rev. G. Blanken
in St. John Lutheran church of Buckley, Illinois. The same pastor
confirmed her in the same church march 22 1896.On Jan 19 1898 she was united in marriage with William Brauer at Minonk,
Illinois. To this union were born two children. Mr Brauer passed away Aug
25 1900.She was married on Feb 25 1905 at Minonk, Illinois to George Kolb. To this
Union was born two children.In 1913 Mr and Mrs. George Kolb and their family move to a farm southwest
of manson where they made their home for 22 years. In 1935 the couple
retired from the farm and moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico to be with
their son Roy who was failing in Heath.They returned to Iowa in the spring of 1937and on Oct 5 Mr. Kolb passed
away. Since then Mrs. Kolb made her home with her two daughters. Mrs. Will
Dahlene of Manson and Mrs. Azra Rummel of Rockwell City.She is survived by two daughters Mrs. Will Dahlene ( Laura) of manson and
Mrs. Azra Rummel ( Hazel) of Rockwell City: a Brother Henry Tiemann of
Fenton: two stepdaughters Mrs. Clara renken and Mrs. Nora bates of manson:
5 grandchildren: 7 step grandchildren, 14 great-GRANDCHILDREN: 15
great-step grandchildren and other relatives.Her two husbands, two sons William Brauer and Roy Kolb and two stepsons
Chris and Henry Kolb preceded her in death.
