Mrs. Mack N. Tevepaugh, whose maiden name was Martha Wilkie, was born in Philadelphia, PA., December 29, 1885. She passed away at her home in Lake City February 5, 1964 at the age of 78 years.
During her early childhood the family moved from her birthplace to Iowa and located on a farm southeast of Lake City. Martha spent the remainder of her life in this community.
She was a daughter of James and Elizabeth Watson Wilkie, both of whom passed away many years ago.
During her early life, Martha taught in various rural schools in this vicinity for several years.
She was united in marriage to Mack N. Tevepaugh January 31, 1917, They farmed in this area for many years, then moved into town 16 years ago. Mr. Tevepaugh passed away in June of 1963.
Other deceased relatives include two infant daughters and a sister, Mrs. Margaret Glasgow, who lived in Lake City.
Among her nearest surviving relatives are three sons as follows: James Tevepaugh of Anita, Robert Tevepaugh of Storm Lake and Harold Tevepaugh of Lake City. Then she leaves Mrs. Norma Jean Faye of Omaha, who was reared in her home as a granddaughter.
She leaves three sisters who are Mrs. Rebecca Madden, Miss Annie Wilkie and Mrs. Tillie Howe, all of Lake City. She also leaves 12 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Mrs. Tevepaugh was a worthy homemaker and a true wife and mother. She was devoted to the best interests of each member of her family circle.
During her later years, her physical activities were somewhat restricted by lack of strength. She adapted herself patiently to the situation and continued her interest in friends and community affairs.
She united with the First Presbyterian Church of Lake City on March 2, 1904 and maintained a continuous membership through a period of 64 years.
The funeral service as held in the Huffman Memorial Chapel Feb. 7, 1964 with the Rev. John Lewis and the Rev. C.O. Stuckenbruck in charge. Interment was in the Cottonwood cemetery.
