Harold Sommerfeld, 86, died Sunday, November 11, 2007 at Sunny Knoll Care Center in Rockwell City. Services were held at the Lampe Funeral Home in Lake City, IA at 10:30 a. m. Wednesday, November 14, 2007. Pastor Gary Dooley officiated. Burial was at the Lake City Cemetery.

Harold Sommerfeld was born on June 13, 1921 in Manson, Iowa to Arthur and Blanche(Nicholson) Sommerfeld. Harold served in the United States Army from 1942 until 1945. On June 18, 1946 he married Elizabeth Howe at the Woodlawn Christian Church in Lake City. Harold farmed and worked road construction until his retirement.

Harold is survived by 8 daughters; Pat Sommerfeld of Ankeny, Jean(Ron)Clark of Lake City, Kathy (Ken) Taylor of Riceville, Barb Sommerfeld of Lake City, Donna Sommerfeld of Fort Dodge, Peg Sommerfeld of Greenwood, Arkansas, Janet (Shawn) Rogers of Ankeny, and Sandy (Pat) Vogel of Lake City; 2 sons, Philip (Rhonda)Sommerfeld of Lake City, and Tony Sommerfeld of Lake City; 12 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Arlene Carlson of Sac City and Doris Hanks of Lake City. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; brother, Roy; and great-granddaughter Elizabeth Rose.
