Walter Ralph Scott

The sudden death of Ralph Scott whose home was on the Kingery farm just south of Greene came as a surprise to his relatives and friends for he was reported as getting over his attack of influenza. He was taken with vident coughing followed by hemorrhage of the lungs and only lived a short time.

Walter Ralph Scott was born January 23,1888 in Franklin County, Iowa, and died at his home near Greene Janury 9, at the age of 30 years, 11 months and 14 days.

When a young boy he came to Greene with his parents, Mr and Mrs. Grant Scott, now residents of Dayton township and this vicinity has been his home.

On January 15,1916 he was united in marriage to Abbie Lucille Wygle, who survives him with their son two year old Walter Lee.

Besides his wife and son he leaves to mourn his loss his father and mother, a sister, Mrs. Scott Barnett, of Charles City and two brothers, Orin of Mason City, Iowa, and Forest at home.
A sister, Hilda and a brother Harold preceded him in death when quite young.

Ralph was well and favorably known in this community. He was a young man of sterling character who devoted his life to the things that were true and good.
He was a faithful and loyal member of the Methodist Church at Greene.

Services were held at the home at two o'clock p.m. Friday in charge of his pastor, Rev.E.A. Baker and burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery.

From our viewpoint we could ill afford to lose him in his strong young manhood.
But what to our understanding is unexplainable, must be known to the Divine Father, we bow in submission to His will.
