Shell Rock News December 1862

Died- At her home three miles north of Shell Rock, Saturday night December 9, 1882, Mrs Adeline Leavens. The deceased was born in Chatugua County, New York, April 22, 1830 and at the time of her death was 44 years old.
She came to this county with her parents, Miles and Fanny Wheller in 1857 and was married to Bainbridge Leavens October 22nd, 1862.

Funeral services were held at the Methodist Ep. church Tuesday last at 2 o'clock p.m.
Reverend S. Sherin officating, afterward which her remains were followed to the cemetery by a large concourse of friends and neighbors where she was laid to rest, after years of physical suffering which had baffled the skill of our noblest physican.

She leaves a husband and three sons who will sadly miss the advice, assistance and counsel of a loving inteligent wife and Mother.
In all those qualities which adorn the wife, the friend, the neighbor, Mrs Leavens excelled and in her death the society in which she moved suffers an irreparable loss.

Words are too feeble, the human arm too short to give consolation to the breaved family but they can be assured that they have the heartfelt sympathy of this entire community.
