BAIN LEAVENS
Bain Leavens, 74, of rural Shell Rock, died late Saturday afternoon, August 28 (1976) at his home.

He was born on February 1, 1902, near Shell Rock, the son of Eugene and Julia (Wood) Leavens. Bain attended country school and then the Shell Rock High School where he graduated in 1919. He then attended college in Ames for one year. On February 18, 1925 he was married to Ruth Boers and they lived on their present farm for the past 51 years.
Mr Leavens was a member of the Shell Rock United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Adaline and Ethel, and two brothers, Charles and Carl.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth; two sons, Richard Leavens of Nashua and Duane Leavens of Greene; 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 31, at the Shell Rock United Methodist Church with Rev. James Dotson officiating. Burial was in the Riverside Cemetery in Shell Rock. The Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Shell Rock in charge of arrangements.
