Dennis DeGroote, 62, of Shell Rock, died Wednesday, August 31st, 2016.
He was born in Waverly, Iowa, on September 20, 1953, son of Harlan and Berniece (Mulder) DeGroote of Parkersburg. He graduated from Parkersburg High School in 1971. He attended Hawkeye Community College for one year studying Tool and Die. He then worked for three years at John Deere.
In January 1973, Dennis realized he was a lost sinner and rested in the finished work of Christ on the cross. On March 21, 1975 he married Mary Roys in Cedar Falls. They lived and farmed outside of Shell Rock and since 1985 bought and sold equipment as D&M Motor and Equipment.Dennis loved his family more than anything in this world. He loved to tease and joke. He went out of his way to encourage and uplift those around him. He had a passion for machinery and loved sales and tractor pulls.
Survived by his parents Harlan and Berniece DeGroote, wife Mary (Roys) DeGroote, four daughters: Christina (Steven) Faviere, Toronto Canada; Dixie (Andrew) Ferguson, Ankeny; Diane DeGroote (fiancé Nolan Smith), Cedar Rapids; Heidi (Brodie) Biersner, Dike, six grandchildren: Hayden, Henry, Isabella, and Victoria Faviere, Madeline Ferguson, and Cora Biersner, and a sister Karen (John) Tolsma of Parkersburg.
Visitation will be Monday, September 5th, from 4-8pm Kaiser Corson Funeral Home Shell Rock.
Funeral Services will be Tuesday, September 6th, at 10:30 am at the Veterans Memorial Building in Parkersburg. Interment to follow immediately in Oak Hill Cemetery in Parkersburg. Memorials can be made to the family. On-line condolences may be left at www.kaisercorson.com.
