Stephen Stodden of Tulsa, Okla., died April 24, 2017, from complications after heart surgery.
Stephen was born Aug. 22, 1957, the son of Vernon and Carol Ann Stodden. Stephen graduated from Colfax High School in 1976. He continued his education at Morningside College, Drake University and Oral Roberts University with a masters in divinity. He served as pastor in several Methodist churches in Iowa and Nebraska before returning to Tulsa to be employed at Oral Roberts University.
Stephen married his wife Nancy Aug. 20, 1983 and was happy married for 34 years.
Those left to mourn his passing are his wife, Nancy; daughter, Stephanie; two sons, Andrew and Timothy; sister Maragrate Ruiz; and two brothers, Woodworth and Vernon Fred. Stephen is the nephew of Norma Jean Warnock of Mitchellville.
A memorial took place April 27 at his home church in Tulsa and a graveside service was April 29 at the Shell Rock cemetery. At Stephen’s request, those attending the graveside service enjoyed a barbecue afterward.
