Levi(Lee)Taylor was born at Springfield, Ill.,Nov. 24, 1851, and died May 20, 1911, at the home of his sister, Mrs. Case, in New Hartford, Iowa, aged 59 years, 5 months and 25 days. He was united in marriage to Celestia G. Parks, Jan. 2, 1889 and to this union four children were born, one son dying in infancy. Floyd, Leona, and Bertha survive him, also the wife, one brother and five sisters. The brother was unable to be with him, owing to sickness in his own home. The sisters, Mrs. D.M. Case and Mrs. Permelia Patchin, both of New Hartford, Mrs. Jane Endert of Crescent City, Calif., Mrs. Eva Shelley of Cedar Falls and Mrs. Amy Lyons of Shell Rock were all present to care for and comfort him in the last hours of his life, and his wife, children, sisters and other friends were at his bedside when he passed into rest. Last winter he was brought to see the great need of a personal Savior and after earnestly seeking found Jesus and confessed him as his Lord. The funeral was held at the home of Mrs. D.M. Case, Rev. H.A. Essex of the Baptist church preaching on the following text: "To whom shall we go but unto Thee. Thou hast the words of eternal life. ---John 6:68." Interment was made at Greenwood Cemetery, Cedar Falls, beside the graves of the mother and sister, Bertha. The pallbearers, his sisters, nephews, and a daughter, were selected in accordance with a request made by Mr. Taylor during his last illness.
